In 8 weeks: +28% participation, +12.8% conversion, and 35% fewer drop-offs in the form.
The offer landed, but something leaked
A big lottery campaign with an e-bike as the top prize. Plenty of traffic, but too many people dropped off, mostly in the signup form. People liked the offer, but the path to it leaked.
They forgot what they could win
The prize felt too far away. People had to fight through text and steps and forgot the feeling of what they could win. Emotion first, explanation later.
Eye on the prize… always!
Rebuilt the landing page around “eye on the prize”: the e-bike visible and selectable straight away. Shortened the form with progressive disclosure. Tested urgency (a blinking indicator plus text under the CTA) with A/B.
Urgency won
The urgency variant won with +12.8% conversion. In total: +28% participation and 35% fewer drop-offs. Lesson: an emotional connection beats a tidy explanation, and small changes move big numbers, as long as you test instead of guess.
Why this still holds
The behavioural principle is timeless: lower the barrier, bring the reward forward. Today you can set up the funnel analysis and variants faster with AI-assisted tools, but the question stays the same: why does someone drop off ?
Hypothesis
By adding urgency that bicycles can still be won with a flashing dot and text under the CTA, people are more likely to participate.
Results
Version A performed significantly better than version B. Version A has +12.8% CR.
